I’m on the Right; while I don’t embrace the label “conservative” for a few reasons, I’ve voted with the conservatives for decades now. My own description of my view is that of a Constitutionalist, and I am in awe of the genius of the design of our government.
And I do have disagreements with the conservatives, but none of such temper as to cause me to endorse the views of our collectivist foes. Sometimes I have to really wonder about the mindset of such ‘established’ conservatives like George Will and Bill Kristol. How on earth did they get to where they are?
Donald Trump’s somewhat of a jerk, no two ways about that. But he was inarguably a much better president than fumbling Joe Biden. On a policy basis. But elections are only peripherally about policy. Personality weighs greatly on the minds of a slice of the electorate. A significant slice.
And that slice has a visceral hatred of Donald Trump that incorporates zero accurate policy evaluation. And that’s the way of it; the Left has waged a largely successful character assassination campaign abetted hugely by The Donald’s own reliably rising to the bait to display again his ‘mean tweet’ rhetoric.
Where does this leave us? Well with DJT at odds with the “justice” system, and potentially out of the game by November, and with DeSantis gone, Tricky Nikki’s the only one left. Should she, not surprisingly now, capture the Republican nomination…, well? What to do?
“It's far simpler for Democrats to replace Joe Biden by letting him lose in November. Forget impeachment or the 25th Amendment. There is already a candidate, already running, who could replace Biden and continue many of his policies, perhaps not as vigorously, but certainly appealing enough to the left and the donor class that they are all in for her candidacy.
I speak of Nikki Haley, ostensibly running as a Republican.”
Haley’s been best described as an empty vessel; i.e., any way the wind blows will decide her trajectory in office. Should this come to pass, that Nikki Haley gets elected, we need to fill the vessel; i.e., we need to be the way the wind blows.
And there is hope that we will be able to prevail upon her; woke is dimming as a force on the battlefield.
P.S. In my time I’ve seen it to be almost reliable that the early front runner in the presidential sweepstakes gets pushed aside.
P.P.S. Rand Paul has an opinion: Never Nikki
