Summer’s Over…

But it might not feel like it’s cooling down. There are those amongst us – primarily of the Left – clamoring, via rocks and firebombs, for a rematch of the Civil War. How close are they to drumming up a fever pitch, and how distant is their hoped-for ignition point?

Media focus has been on where the action is, on the ground in Portland, Chicago, and elsewhere, as well as in the courts, where Trump’s assertion of the government's right to protect its facilities and institutions is being questioned (with little success so far). Although the kinetic events we see in the news look pretty wild, so far they appear to be pretty localized, and polling indicates majority support for the White House. Where I am, life goes on apace even in the middle of the Schumer shutdown.

Why now the hostile activities? One could bloviate about the discord between the Left and the Right ad nauseam, but the proximal cause is the enforcement of immigration law. We’ve long known and embraced the United States’ identity as a nation of immigrants. My father was an immigrant, as are some of my friends; all of them are legal immigrants who went through the process. A recurring omission in the Left’s dialogue is that what we’re now dealing with is illegal immigration. The two are not the same.

A hugely disruptive immigration scenario that willfully induces millions of people ill-prepared culturally or socially for life in the United States to come here, basically willy-nilly, lacking skills, assets, or plans, laid the groundwork for the ongoing social upheaval. The Democratic Party has long, and cynically, postured as the party of the poor, in this case arguing for increasingly longer-term shelter, food, and Medicaid assistance. It sounds like they plan on having the poor around for a long time.

And they are.

The masses brought in under the borderless Biden regime went through no Covid screening, nor any vetting, as is standard to immigration procedures around the world, and are largely bereft of assets or higher job skills. Many lack proficiency in the dominant language. Combine that with the fact that their social networks are askew, and they are vulnerable to the predations of the criminals embedded with them. It is no stretch to see that they are being groomed for failure, to become the dependent wards of the Democratic Party.

And their lack of success will contribute to the hardship of the unwitting communities of indigenous Americans.

Crying, “Fascist!” has now become as meaningless as crying, “Wolf!” Nevertheless, antifa & allies continue their comically unfunny comparison of ICE deportations to Nazi deportations of Jews, etc. during WWII. In keeping with their habit of omission, they fail to note that whereas the Nazis were sending people to concentration camps, we’re sending people…home.

But Antifa cares not for details; their only goal is turmoil to derail any policy contrary to the Progressive Long March. The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution. Unfortunately, the complicity of elected officials in Oregon and Illinois (and wherever else may erupt soon) with rioters has grown to a point where local law enforcement has been instructed to complicate federal law enforcement’s task to a degree that could be insurrectionist.

However, my feeling at this point is that there are local hotspots, but there is not enough kindling around the country to ignite them. It really seems like people, while not necessarily moving significantly to the Right, are tired of the Left.
